Bible Study

The last two days we talk about your new lifestyle of Christlikeness is  to keep your eyes and hands from sinning so that you can keep your marriage vow and divorce would never happen. Is it difficult? It is. Still it is workable.

Today we talk about your new lifestyle of Christlikeness is to be able to love your enemies.  Is it difficult? It is and it is not workable, not possible. How can you let people to do something to you like what Jesus says in this passage? How can you love your enemies? Mission impossible.

Bishop N.T. Wright gives us a clue why Jesus says we need to acquire this new lifestyle(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._T._Wright):
The shocking thing about this passage is that we are told to watch what our heavenly father is doing and then do the same ourselves.

N.T. Wright. Matthew for Everyone, Part 1. Louisville,KY:Westminster         John Knox Press, 2004, p.50.

How close are you with Jesus that you can watch what he is doing and then do the same? Where and who can you learn and follow those examples? Can people see you doing those examples then they do the same? What kind of examples can you give to those who are around you?

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage of scripture we have just read. Offer this time up to Jesus as you listen to him, while listening to "Gabriel's Oboe"

Spiritual Journal

The topic I received from Jesus today is :
New love: Be an example to love your enemies

Yesterday we had a retreat for those new and old members of our Council. When we were sharing what have we seen at Richmond Emmanuel Church, our new People's Warden, Gavin Siu, said to our previous People's Warden, Brenda Choi, "Brenda, I see Jesus in you that you can do all those amazing things to us."

I think that's what Jesus means in today's passage. It is impossible for us to love our enemies. But, if we can be more closer to Jesus each day and watch His examples, we can be an example to love our enemies.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be closer and closer to you each day that we can be an example to love our enemies. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
